Joe served in Vietnam with ECHO 2/4 3rd Marine Division on the DMZ 1968-69
where he recognised the importance of a properly trained dog, first hand.

Our first contact with Mr. Joe Scheffer was at 4-H canine camp in March of 09. I was so impressed with his skill at communicating with the kids in such a way that they never lost interest. In the form of a conversation he shared so much knowledge and information. He was able to keep all of the kids on their knees and very focused on him, ( a large group of 30 kids). He was very kind and patient with the kids, his interaction and enthusiasm with them made them all very comfortable and excited to participate with him. It is sure nice to meet someone who is equally as passionate about the children as he is about his dogs and the kids dogs also.
The other parents that were able to see his demo at camp were as impressed as I, so we hired him to come spend a day with our group of 6 kids and thier dogs. What a day! Each of our kids had a great learning experience. He spent individual time with each child and their dog working with what each child asked about. He spent time as a group talking to them about dogs in general, and again kept the interest of all of the group, giving them a wealth of information in the form of conversation, not a lecture.
Our kids and parents were so impressed we are looking forward to another opportunity to get to work with Joe again. I would highly recommend Joe in any situation with kids and dogs.
